Singing: Hello friends it's time to say hello.
Achenbach: We went from tired, sleepy little bodies to just joyful instrument playing, music making kiddos.
Slats: All in a matter of minutes. You see? Tommy Holland...
Singing: You make me happy.
Slats: And his Little Star Foundation donated 210 band in a box kits to the school system.
Hansen: He provided maracas. There were castanets in there. Other types of shaker scrapers and other fun things for the kids to include in their regular classroom day.
Holland: It's a lot of percussion instruments, but when you get rhythm, all of a sudden you're going to want, you know, I want the piano to go with that. I want the guitar to go with that. And it's just an opportunity for them to be introduced to musical instruments, not only music, but musical instruments.
Slats: And these instruments will go a long way towards these pre-K students education.
Achenbach: Research shows that kids who can keep a steady beat become more fluent readers.
Hansen: It's great for their, their educational development, their whole child development, social emotional development as well.
Singing: please don't take my sunshine away.
Holland: But it's also a way to socialize. I mean, very much as far as socialization. There's the opportunity to sit down and play guitar or piano or something where somebody, you've become the rock star in the room, and we'd like to create a bunch of rock stars in the room.
Slats: These rock stars benefiting from the little Star Foundation of Savannah, continuing to partner with our local school system to provide musical opportunities for all ages.
Singing: time for music, tidy ho..
Slats: For SCCPSS, I'm Ken Slats.
