DERENNE MIDDLE SCHOOL

School Council Meeting

February 2, 2026

The School Council for DeRenne Middle School held its first meeting of the school year 2025/26. Members in attendance were Robert DeLoach, Jennifer Hodge, Adorllys Perez, Antonette Powell, Tammy Broadnax, and T. Martin Flowers. The session was led by Charles McMillan. The session started at 5:00 PM (EST).

Our first meeting provided an overview of the Georgia law requirements for the School Council. Mr. McMillan noted the composition requirements for the Council – must have a majority of parent/guardian members; officers will include President, Vice President, and Secretary – President must be a parent/guardian; the Council must meet four (4) times per year in a public forum with minutes taken and provided for publication on the school website.

Those present agreed that the next meeting should be as soon as possible to complete the overview and to elect officers. After querying those present, the decision was made to conduct the next School Council meeting on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 5:00 PM (EST). The meeting will be an in-person gathering at DeRenne Middle School in room 216, the Parent Resource Center. In the interim period, Mr. McMillan and Ms. Tammy Broadnax, Principal, will communicate to coordinate a way ahead.
